Thunder Bay - Ontario

Thunder Bay, Ontario, is one of the best-known cities in north-western Ontario. Located on Lake Superior just 100 kilometres east of the Manitoba border, Thunder Bay is home to Fort William Historical Park, the Canada Games Complex, the Terry Fox Memorial, and much more. The city is a centre for sports, museums, and botanical gardens, among other attractions.

The waterfront is one of Thunder Bay’s best resources. Within view of the Sleeping Giant mountain, the final port on the St. Lawrence Seaway is a centre for sailing and other water activities. The port is also a starting point for tours of the city’s railway station, parks, and unique shops and restaurants, including the well-known Hoito Restaurant, now almost a century old.

Gardens and parks are integral to Thunder Bay’s charm. From parks and canyons to the conservatory and the famous Sunken Gardens in Hillcrest Park, Thunder Bay is sure to please outdoor enthusiasts. The Thunder Oak Cheese Farm gives an insight into cheese production, while the many museums around the city display everything from sports memorabilia to military equipment.
