Elk Island National Park of Canada

This park is close to Edmonton, Alberta and it is a fully enclosed park and has been opened since 1907. Being an enclosed space, it protects the endangered species that you can find in the area such as the pure bread plane bison (there are over 400 plane bison in the park), elks, moose, deer and the wood bison (in 2007 the estimated number of wood bison is around 300). The Elk Island National Park of Canada is also famous for the over 250 species of birds that one can see here. The park is a wonderful place to go for a picnic, camping, taking a hike, skiing or simply bird watching. The park is opened year round and park user fees apply.
